Talk show host calls for donations

Jimmy Kimmel expresses his dismay at the wildfires in the Los Angeles area. The talk show host quickly opens a donation center.

Jimmy Kimmel (57) supports the victims of the wildfires in Los Angeles. Together with the team from his talk show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” (since 2003, on ABC) he founded a donation center – the presenter announced this on Monday of the show and on his own profile. “If you would like to help those affected by the fires, we have set up a donation center at our Hollywood studio. We will quickly distribute essential items to those who need them,” Kimmel wrote on the post, thanking them for the support.

According to the post, Kimmel and his team have been accepting donations since January 13th. Items requested – baby and pet food, toiletries, diapers, socks or non-perishable food items – will be accepted on the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” show site from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In the comments, numerous users made it clear how grateful they were for Kimmel’s efforts. “You are incredible, Jimmy,” wrote one user under the post, adding a red heart and praying hands. “He’s always thinking about the community! Thank you Jimmy! You’re a gentleman,” commented another.

In his show he shows himself to be emotional

On Monday (January 13th), Kimmel was in Los Angeles for the first time since the fire disaster began with “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” back on air. “Many of us had to leave our houses in a hurry; some of our colleagues lost their homes. It was terrible,” emphasized the 57-year-old at the beginning of the program with tears in his eyes.

The current situation is “a disgusting, shocking and terrible experience”. Nevertheless, Kimmel appreciates the solidarity that has existed in the fire area for days. “In many ways it was also a beautiful experience because once again we see our fellow human beings coming together to support each other,” said Kimmel.

He targets Donald Trump

Despite the emotional words, Kimmel was also critical of US President-elect Donald Trump (78) on his show. “The fact that he chose to attack our firefighters who are out there risking their lives for us is disgusting, but not surprising,” Kimmel teased.

Trump had previously lashed out against the authorities in California. “The fires in LA are still raging. The incompetent politicians have no idea how to put them out,” the 78-year-old wrote on his Truth Social platform, complaining that the firefighting effort was not progressing fast enough.
