She reveals details about cancer treatment

Princess Kate revealed some details of her cancer treatment during her hospital visit on Tuesday.

In her first major solo appearance in more than a year, Princess Kate (43) spoke more openly than ever about her experiences fighting cancer at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, where she was being treated.

She was advised to wear warm clothing

In a conversation with four patients, she revealed how she struggled with grueling preventive chemotherapy. “It’s really hard. It’s such a shock.” The first diagnosis is associated with “uncertainty”. “Understanding the diagnosis is a tremendous amount of information to process as a patient. This continuity in the clinical setting and at home is so important.”

During her visit on January 14, the princess also recalled advice that had helped her, adding: “Everyone told me to please keep a positive attitude, it makes a big difference,” she said. She also revealed another tip she was given: “When I came in, everyone said to make sure I had all my warm clothes on because of the side effects.”

Among other things, Kate spoke to patient Katherine Field (45) about chemotherapy. Facing the chemo port, she pointed to her own arm and chest. “I’m so used to it,” she said, joking that she hesitated when she was told, “You can have it taken out now.”

She had to visit the clinic “quietly”.

Regarding the feeling of connection among patients, Kate explained: “I had to do it privately and in peace, but being on a ward like this must be reassuring in some way?” She also noted that entering through the front door was something new for her after making “so many quiet visits,” adding that it was “pretty nice” to experience the proper welcome.

In March 2024, the mother of three announced that she had cancer in an emotional video after undergoing unspecified abdominal surgery in January. The exact type of cancer she suffered from was not made public. In September she also announced in a video that she had successfully completed chemotherapy. During her visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital she thanked the nursing team: “They were fantastic. You feel like you’re in good hands.”

She is looking forward to “a fulfilling year”

She then shared on Instagram: “It’s a relief to be in remission now and I remain focused on my recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis knows, adjusting to a new normal takes time “But I’m looking forward to a fulfilling year.”
