Prince William ended his first official appearance of the new year with a social gathering among Aston Villa fans.
First the royal work, then the beer-filled pleasure: Prince William (42) was officially appointed the new patron of the College of Paramedics on Wednesday (January 15th). This is the professional body for paramedics in the United Kingdom. To mark the celebratory occasion, Prince William appeared at the Emergency and Critical Care Conference in Birmingham and gave a speech.
In it he praised the self-sacrificing work of the rescue workers: “They are there for people in the most critical and emotional moments and must demonstrate care and skill in extremely stressful and often distressing situations. Their ability to calm the patient, address his fears Hearing and reassuring them that help has arrived is just as important as the subsequent medical intervention.”
The appearance was Prince William’s first official date of the new year. He was certainly able to approach it in a much more carefree manner than was the case with commitments last year. After all, his wife Princess Kate (43) had recently announced that she was finally cancer-free.
Beer and football talk
And so Prince William used his visit to Birmingham to socialize with like-minded football fans. As pictures show, he surprised supporters of his favorite club, Aston Villa, in a pub. He chatted with the eight season ticket holders about king football for around 30 minutes and apparently also bought them a round of beer. “He’s not a fair-weather fan. He really loves the club with passion,” said one of those present.
The meeting was arranged by the club from Birmingham, for whom William also likes to keep his fingers crossed in the stadium. However, the prince was unable to watch the later Premier League game against Everton, which Villa narrowly won 1-0, live in the stadium this time due to other commitments.
