Comedian Hape Kerkeling can be seen again in a leading role on the big screen in 2026. In the comedy “Extrawurst”, grilled sausages at a tennis club lead to an ordeal.
The theater hit “Extrawurst” is coming to cinemas with comedian Hape Kerkeling and actor Christoph Maria Herbst. According to the announcement, the socially critical comedy about integration and racist prejudices will be adapted for the screen in the spring. Other leading roles include Fahri Yardim (“Jerks”), Anja Knauer (“New Stories from Pumuckl”) and Friedrich Mücke (“Wunderschön”).
The planned theatrical release is January 2026. The film by director Marcus H. Rosenmüller is about members of a tennis club in the German provinces and the debate about whether a separate grill needs to be purchased for devout Muslims who avoid pork. This presents the club with an ordeal. “Extrawurst” premiered at Hamburg’s Ohnsorg Theater in 2019 and was awarded the Monica Bleibtreu Prize.
