It’s actually surprising that she doesn’t have it yet: Bavaria’s “sweetheart” Uschi Glas is now receiving the honorary award of the Bavarian Film Prize. A “fan” lends it to her.

This year the honorary award of the Bavarian Film Prize goes to Uschi Glas (80). She is an “acting icon,” said Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU), who will award the prize. “She has been inspiring all generations for decades, represents the Bavarian way of life and has a big heart.”

“Eternal classics” and “Fack ju Göhte”

Glass has shaped eternal classics such as “Winnetou” and the “Pauker” films as well as, more recently, the “Fack ju Göhte” series. “She is one of the absolute audience favorites in film and television. The screen is her home,” Söder continued. And she always remained warm and equally cosmopolitan and grounded.

“Above all, Uschi Glas is a great person,” said Söder, who also praised her commitment to her club “brotZeit”. This advocates for a healthy breakfast for children. “This social commitment is extraordinary. Uschi Glas is a great role model and an important representative of the Free State.” Söder said that he himself had been a big fan of her films since he was a teenager.

Ferres, Bully and Wortmann were already there before Glas

The Bavarian Film Prize has been awarded since 1979 and will be awarded again next week (Friday, January 24th) at the Prinzregententheater in Munich.

The Prime Minister’s Honorary Award in front of Glas included Veronica Ferres, Michael “Bully” Herbig, Sönke Wortmann, Martina Gedeck, Heiner Lauterbach, Roland Emmerich, Werner Herzog, Hannelore Elsner, Wim Wenders, Armin Mueller-Stahl, Margarethe von Trotta and Bruno Ganz receive.
