Cheap hand creams impress in the test
Stiftung Warentest tested 17 hand creams. The test winner is a dm cream. Other inexpensive hand creams also perform well – and are available for less than one euro.
A good hand cream for dry skin doesn’t have to be expensive – you can get it for as little as 95 cents.
Stiftung Warentest tested 17 hand creams and gave them good and satisfactory grades. The price differences are large: 100 milliliters or grams cost between 70 cents and 39 euros, as Stiftung Warentest announced on Friday.
Classic brand products such as Nivea, Florena and Neutrogena, but also creams from dm and Rossmann’s own brands were tested. Three certified natural cosmetics were also tested.
Hand creams from dm and Lidl perform well
First place went to the Balea Urea hand cream from dm. The cheapest cream in the test, the Cien Hand Cream Repair from Lidl, scored good overall. The Intensive Repair hand cream from Sante Naturkosmetik also received this rating; 75 milliliters cost 3.12 euros.
The dermatologist Silke Hofmann told the magazine “test” that in winter the combination of cold and dry heated air affects the skin on the hands. However, it is not necessary to apply cream after every wash. For healthy people, this is enough once to three times a day. “If you feel the need, you can apply cream more often – there is actually no such thing as too much.”
