Bumbling groping all night long – that’s what my sex nightmare looks like. And so I saw the sex life of my girlfriend, who has very young lovers after her breakup. But she taught me otherwise.

I recently met a newly separated friend for lunch. She beamed at me. “It was a wild weekend,” she said, grinning. But more on that later. She had broken up, and it was an almost typical story. There was no more sex. She was interested, but not with him. “You know, when I come home and there are still dishes piling up in the sink and laundry lying around, even though he works from home, it turns me off.”
Doing the dishes, buying suitable clothes for the child, tidying up, should all be their job. But there was no appreciation for it. “I find that unsexy,” she says. Couples therapy and sex coaching followed, but all attempts to save the relationship – including because of the child – failed. Meanwhile, she had a corporate career and bought a condominium, while everything for him stagnated. Of course that made the situation worse.
