Brooke Shields no longer has a problem with her daughters no longer living with her, as she told Jimmy Fallon.
For many parents, having their children move out is a difficult change – including for Hollywood star Brooke Shields (59). The actress has now reconciled quite well with the new situation,
“I’m an empty-nester,” the actress began her remarks. Empty Nest Syndrome describes the sadness that parents feel after their children leave their parents’ home. But the story continues: “Then they came home for Christmas. It was great, and then I couldn’t wait for them to go.”
At first she was sad, remembers Shields. “Then at the end of Christmas I asked, ‘Don’t you have to go back to school?'”. Shields and her husband Chris Henchy, 60, have two daughters who are now both in college: 21-year-old Rowan and 18-year-old Grier.
“Unknown territory” as empty nests
Things looked different last year, like Shields. At the time, she said she wasn’t ready for her two daughters to go to college. “The thought of no longer living in a house 24/7 with the people I raised is just very foreign. It’s like entering completely foreign territory.”
She also had to get used to the “grown-up” version of her younger daughter, as she also said: “I said to my daughter: ‘I have to get to know you first,'” said Shields. “‘Because the only way I know you is that you do what I tell you to do. And you’re not a baby anymore.'”
