Austria’s former head of government Sebastian Kurz is becoming a dad for the second time. He revealed on Instagram whether his son would have a sister or a brother.
Sebastian Kurz has announced that he is becoming a father again. The former Austrian Chancellor shared the baby news on January 18th. He also published a snapshot of his three-year-old son holding an ultrasound image in his hands.
“Three years ago a wonderful chapter began for us with the birth of Konstantin,” the ex-chancellor wrote about the photo. “This year will be even more exciting. We are overjoyed that Konstantin will be welcoming a little brother in just a few months.”

The politician also announced on social media that the former ÖVP leader and his partner Susanne Thier would become parents for the first time. He did this in July 2021 with a couple photo on Instagram. With regard to the announcement, he wrote: “I ask for your understanding that we will keep our private lives private as before. But we are happy to be able to share this soon-to-be unmistakable joy with you!”

Kurz’s career (right) begins in the Young People’s Party (JVP). In 2008 he became state chairman of the Young ÖVP Vienna, in 2009 he became federal chairman and remained so until 2017. Kurz, who became an investor after his political career, shared the good news of the birth of his first son at the end of November 2021 via his official Twitter account: “My friend Susanne gave birth to our son in the early hours of the morning today. We are overjoyed and very grateful!”
At the beginning of January, the Austrian media brought the ex-chancellor into play as a possible new ÖVP leader, citing conservative circles. The once very popular Kurz withdrew from politics in 2021 in the wake of corruption investigations against him. The investigation into the allegations, which Kurz denies, is still ongoing.
