The list of musicians who want to perform at the benefit concert for those affected by the LA fire disaster is getting longer and longer. A soul legend and a well-known pop singer also want to be there.
Other stars have announced themselves at the benefit concert for those affected by the devastating fires in Southern California: soul legend Stevie Wonder and pop singer Alanis Morissette want to perform on January 30th, as do Olivia Rodrigo, No Doubt, Graham Nash, John Fogerty and the Black Crowes Organizers announced. Prominent musicians such as Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Katy Perry, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, Rod Stewart, Sting, Jelly Roll, Green Day, Earth, Wind & Fire and the Red Hot Chili Peppers had previously confirmed their participation.
The benefit concert called “FireAid” is intended to raise funds with performances at two venues in Inglewood, south of Los Angeles. According to the organizers, the money will be used to support people who lost their homes in the fires. In addition, the proceeds should flow into the reconstruction of the infrastructure. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the rock band Eagles have already donated $2.5 million for the concert.
The wildfires are estimated to have destroyed or damaged more than 12,000 buildings in the region so far. The number of confirmed deaths rose to 27. Several people are still missing.
The danger has still not been averted: the weather service warned of the return of dangerous strong winds that could reignite the fires that had been laboriously contained. The “extreme fire weather” is expected to last from late Monday (local time) to early Tuesday.
