Meryem Moutaoukkil is the main advisor to her sons Emilio Sakraya and Ilyes Raoul. Now the actress is starting herself.
She is a former athlete, actress, spiritual life coach – and mother of actors Emilio Sakraya (28) and Ilyes Raoul (20). Meryem Moutaoukkil (born 1971) put a lot of things aside in her life to pave the way for her sons. “I wanted them to be able to develop their talents and live their dreams without feeling the hurdles that stood in my way back then,” says the former Moroccan champion in the 400-meter hurdles in an interview with spot on news.
Together in front of the camera
“I am incredibly proud of my sons and admire the strength, creativity and perseverance with which they pursue their path in public.” Her eldest son Emilio began his impressive career at a young age. He played his first significant role in 2010 as a young Bushido (46) in the film “Times Change You”. In Fatih Akin’s (51) “Rheingold” and Til Schweiger’s (61) “Saving the World We Know” he appeared in front of the camera together with his mother.
“These small roles were not only meaningful to me professionally, but above all personally,” says Moutaoukkil. The family connection gives such projects a “special, authentic dynamic”.
“Close and regular exchange”
But Moutaoukkil is not only an important support for her son in front of the camera. As an experienced “ThetaHealing” teacher and spiritual advisor, she also helps him deal with public pressure. In addition to acting, Sakraya is also successful as a musician. In addition to “Rheingold”, his younger brother was seen in the films “Bibi & Tina: Tohuwabohu Total” and “TKKG – Every legend has its beginning”, among others.
“If a new, suitable project comes along, I would be very happy to work with them again – perhaps even in larger roles,” says Moutaoukkil. When it comes to new projects, there is a lively exchange in the family. “Our conversations are always enriching because each of us brings our own perspective,” says Moutaoukkil, describing the dynamic with her sons. She doesn’t skimp on feedback – “often critical, but always benevolent.”
Significant supporting role in the ARD series “A Better Place”
From January 22nd, the actress can be seen in a striking supporting role in the eight-part drama series “A Better Place” on Erste. The series addresses the question of whether a world without prisons would be possible. “Viewers can expect to experience characters whose inner struggles will move them and make them think,” she promises.
Further exciting projects are already in the starting blocks – international roles could soon follow. The versatile artist is also working on her own series and dedicating herself to her music. She can be sure of the support of her sons.
