In 2005, film star Matthew McConaughey was named “Sexiest Man Alive.” Now he has a suggestion for this year’s winner.
Since 1985, the US magazine “People” has presented the international “Sexiest Man Alive” award every year, choosing the most attractive male celebrity of his time. The first winner of this title was the actor Mel Gibson (69), followed by other, usually American, sex symbols such as Tom Cruise (62, 1990), Brad Pitt (61, 1995/2000) and George Clooney (63 , 1997/2006). In 2005, the actor Matthew McConaughey (55) was also highlighted from the crowd of good-looking superstars with this title.
“Overdue for this Sir to become Sexiest Man Alive”
If it were up to McConaughey, who celebrated his breakthrough in the role of a lawyer in the 1996 film “The Jury”, this year’s title would go to his elderly colleague Anthony Hopkins (87). After the two actors met last weekend at an awards ceremony in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh, McConaughey posted a photo of himself and the British actor (“Silence of the Lambs”) and wrote: “It’s long overdue that this Sir Sexiest Man Alive.”
It remains to be seen whether Hopkins, who is still extremely attractive despite his old age, will actually secure the “Sexiest Man Alive” crown this year – but it is unlikely. The actor and director John Krasinski (45), who received the award last year, is still the current title holder.
