Tippi Hedren became world famous with the film “The Birds”. Now she celebrated her 95th birthday – and is obviously still in good spirits.

Tippi Hedren has been staying away from the spotlight for several years. But on the occasion of her 95th birthday, fans could now see that the acting icon is still doing great even in old age.

“My beautiful mom”

Daughter Melanie Griffith (67) congratulates. The woman celebrating her birthday blows out the candles and waves at the camera. “My beautiful mom turned 95 yesterday!” wrote Griffith on January 20th. Then she underlined what is also clear from the short video: “She is happy, healthy and lively!”

Alfred Hitchcock made her famous – but is also said to have terrorized her

Tippi Hedren began her career in the 1950s as a model in New York City, but she only gained international recognition in the 1960s through the Alfred Hitchcock films “The Birds” (1963) and “Marnie” (1964). For the former film she was named Most Promising Newcomer at the 1964 Golden Globes. However, in her memoirs published in 2016, she revealed that she suffered greatly from working with the famous cult director (1899-1980). The Brit is said to have sexually assaulted her several times on the set of both films. Because she refused him, he is said to have damaged her career. He shamelessly exploited his position of power.

After the two films, he refused to work with Tippi Hedren again, but did not release her from her contract for more than two more years. As a result, she missed out on other attractive role offers, and her career, which had begun so successfully, came to a halt.

The perfect way to celebrate: with the family

Despite these negative experiences, her daughter Melanie Griffith also made her way into Hollywood – and even granddaughter Dakota Johnson (35) became an actress. Her family is very important to Tippi Hedren. On the occasion of her 94th birthday last year, she told US magazine People that she had spent the day with her family. “It might not be exciting for the rest of the world, but as a mother and grandmother it’s the perfect way to celebrate.”

The famous family used to often appear together in public. When Tippi Hedren received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in January 2003, Melanie Griffith presented her with the award. Her granddaughters Dakota and Stella Banderas (28) watched the ceremony from the audience.
