Richard Gere recently moved to her native Spain for his wife Alejandra Silva. The couple has never been so happy.
American actor Richard Gere, 75, has revealed he is “happier than ever” after moving to Spain with wife Alejandra Silva, 41, and children. In one, the “Pretty Woman” star raves about his new life in Europe.
Richard Gere has found new fulfillment since moving to Madrid with his wife, a Spanish PR consultant, and their children, as well as her son from a previous relationship. “The truth is that you see us with renewed vigor. We are happier than ever. [Alejandra]”Because she’s at home and I’m because I’m happy when she’s happy,” says the Hollywood star.
Silva adds that she and her husband have been in lockstep since they met in Positano on Italy’s Amalfi Coast in 2014 and have continued to align their dreams and goals since getting married in 2018. “We’re like soulmates,” she says. “We have the same values, we see the world in the same way and from the first moment we had the feeling that we had known each other for a long time. And that only happens once, if ever.” They would be connected by the karma of their past lives.
Madrid instead of Hollywood
The American first shared his plans to move to Spain in April 2024 and that moving to his wife’s home country would allow her to be closer to her relatives. “It will be wonderful for Alejandra to be closer to her family, her lifelong friends and her culture,” Gere announced. “She was very generous and gave me six years in my world, so it’s only fair that I give her at least another six years in her world.”
Richard Gere was skeptical at first
In October, the screen gentleman was still skeptical when he spoke to the “Bild” newspaper about emigrating: “I moved to Spain primarily for my wife.” He himself will have to get used to his life in Madrid. “I know some people there, but I don’t have a circle of friends that I consider home. That will change over time,” the actor explained.
