In turn, the Milei administration issued a official statement where he noted: “The Argentine Foreign Ministry informs that, after obtaining the corresponding approval, career diplomat Alan Claudio Beraud has been appointed as the new Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Argentine Republic before the Eastern Republic of Uruguay. Ambassador Beraud will assume his duties once the current ambassador, Martin Garcia Moritanconclude your mission,” states the Argentine government publication in X.

García Moritán was appointed Argentine ambassador in Uruguay in February 2024, replacing Alberto Iribarne. Previously, he had been vice chancellor, special representative for Terrorism Affairs, director of Federal and Electoral Affairs and deputy director of the Directorate of Central America, the Caribbean and Mexico, in addition to other positions in the Undersecretary of Southern and Border Affairs and in the Undersecretary of Foreign Policy.

On the other hand, he also served in the Special Mission before the Holy See in the Mediation of the Argentine-Chilean Beagle border conflict in 1984. In addition, he participated in diplomatic representations in Brazil and Bolivia, as well as in the Mission of Argentina to the United Nations in 1994 to 1997 and 2003 to 2009.
