With moving words, Ricky Gervais says goodbye to TV dog Anti, his loyal companion from “After Life”.
The sadness is deep: British comedian and actor Ricky Gervais (63) has to say goodbye to his beloved TV dog Vislor Antilly, called Anti. The German Shepherd who played his loyal companion Brandy in the hit Netflix series After Life has passed away peacefully in her Oxfordshire home at the age of 13.
“This is such sad news,” . “She was 13 and a very good girl,” the actor comments on a picture that shows him together with the TV dog. “Anti was a beautiful soul,” Gervais is quoted as saying by several British media outlets. The star and his four-legged colleague “hit it off straight away”. Filming with Anti made “After Life” his “favorite filming experience of all time.” “I’m so glad I told her a hundred times a day what a good girl she was,” Gervais said.
An impressive career
Anti was born in April 2011 in Herefordshire at the Vislor Dog Training Centre. Her trainers Travis and Ashley Foster previously appeared in Christopher Nolan’s (54) “Batman: The Dark Knight”. At ten weeks old, Anti visited her on set – the beginning of an impressive film and TV career.
In addition to her leading role in “After Life”, Anti was also seen in Hollywood blockbusters such as “Edge of Tomorrow” with Tom Cruise (62) and “The Midnight Sky” with George Clooney (63). The talented dog could also be admired in TV shows such as “The Capture”, “Doc Martin” and “Britain’s Got More Talent”.
“After Life” continues to celebrate success
Anti made her last appearance in July 2024 in the “Midsomer Murders” episode “The Debt Of Lies”. There she played a retired police dog – then she went into a well-deserved retirement herself. Meanwhile, the series “After Life,” which ran from 2019 to 2022, continues to enjoy success. As Gervais announced in August, it is now “the most-watched British sitcom in the world.”
Anti will be particularly remembered as Brandy in the series. As a loyal companion, she helped local reporter Tony (Gervais) get back to life after the death of his wife. Anti appeared at Gervais’ side through all 18 episodes of the three seasons.
