Does the singer present herself too revealingly?

Singer Sabrina Carpenter is known for her provocative looks. This seems to bother colleagues from the music industry a lot.
Sabrina Carpenter (25) wears outfits that are too tight – that is the opinion of the production trio around Mike Stock (73), Matt Aitken (68) and Pete Waterman (78). the songwriters criticized today’s pop music, which is “much more sexualized than in the 1980s”. They are particularly bothered by the US singer’s appearance. “Seeing Sabrina Carpenter dressed as a little girl is pretty offensive. She didn’t need that,” Waterman said.
The three men believe that women like Carpenter are “throwing away” the women’s rights they have fought for for decades. “It’s just crazy. If you want to be respected, you shouldn’t wear a thong,” Waterman claimed. Although Carpenter had “great talent,” she would only dress so little in order to “attract young men.”
Sabrina Carpenter is “lazy”
Stock, Aitken and Waterman not only criticize the 25-year-old’s public appearance, but also her music. In her songs “Juno” and “Bed Chem” Carpenter sings bluntly about sex – too vulgar according to the producers. “I would never try to write a text that says something specific on a sexual level,” emphasized Stock in the interview, describing her fellow musician as “lazy.”
The producers are convinced they would have been “ruined if we had done half of what women do today.” Madonna (66) was the only artist who “ever came close” to the current image of Carpenter and other women in the music industry.
Are the producers contradicting themselves?
The trio got together in 1980 and was particularly successful from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s. Since then, Stock, Aitken and Waterman have been considered one of the most effective songwriter and producer duos of all time. Over the course of their career, they worked with many artists – including women who caused a stir with their provocative appearance, especially in the 1980s.
Among them was Kylie Minogue (56), who is still celebrated by music fans today for both her music and her daring looks. Stock, Aitken and Waterman also wrote songs for the singer Sinitta (61), who often sang suggestive passages and wore hot pants and bandeau tops in public.
