“Anna and Her Subtenant” star Katerina Jacob shines on TV again. Here she reveals how she fights against the aging process.

Katerina Jacob (66) relies on snail slime as a remedy against the aging process. The actress, who can be seen on Friday (January 24th) in “Anna and her lodger: Suddenly mother-in-law” (8:15 p.m., the first), revealed this in an interview with spot on news. In it she also explains why she struggles with her job and how she reacts to hate messages on social media.

Dear Ms. Jacob, on January 24th the first will continue with “Anna and her lodger,” then the new episode “Suddenly Mother-in-Law” will air. What does the success of the series mean to you?

Katerina Jacob: It means a lot to me because we are one of the few old-ager comedies that are really successful. According to ARD, we are the most successful old-ager comedy that ARD has to offer at the moment. The ratings are good and that suggests that there is a demand for old agers. Unfortunately, this is very rarely served.

In “Suddenly Mother-in-Law” things are once again turbulent for Anna. What do you like most about the story and the characters?

Jacob: We always try to get a good cast and I think it’s great that our colleagues really get involved. This time Anke Sevenich and Herbert Knaup are there, nothing can go wrong. Mr. Knaup portrays a wonderfully nasty character – a challenge and the icing on the cake, which makes the whole thing very funny.

You have struggled with your profession in the past because many entertainers, influencers and models are increasingly pushing themselves in front of the camera to act. Do you think this trend will continue?

Jacob: I think people are starting to get restless and see that things can’t go on like this. The classic example of this is “The Dream Ship”. I don’t want to believe that the audience will accept this. Horst Lichter is simply not an actor and it shows. Acting is a profession, we have four years of training. But the channel managers believe that influencers bring them more ratings – which is complete nonsense. Young people only watch Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney or other streaming services, but not ARD and ZDF, those are the older ones. And you should have a program there for them. My 60-year-old neighbor doesn’t know Riccardo Simonetti. I think our profession is handled very badly.

At one point you even wanted to give up your job. How do you think about it today?

Jacob: I’ve always said that if I get a great script, if I’m paid accordingly, and if I have colleagues who are actors and not performers, I’ll continue. And that’s all there is to it in “Anna and Her Subtenant”. That’s how it’s fun too.

Do you already know what happens next for “Anna and her lodger”?

Jacob: Yes, we’ll start with part five in March. Herbert Knaup and Anke Sevenich will remain with us for the time being, which I am very happy about. Our author also has an idea for book six that I find very funny and good. I stop the moment a story is finished or when it’s no longer fun. I’m independent, which is perhaps what irritates many people: I can express my opinion when I no longer like it.

You said on Instagram that you were asked about your current age by some, mainly male, viewers who watched reruns of “The Bull of Tölz”. Do offensive messages on social media hurt you?

Jacob: No, because I know who these messages are coming from. These people can’t hurt me. They are such poor creatures that one can only feel sorry for them. It must be terrible to look in the mirror every morning and see that character.

Do you read all the messages you receive?

Jacob: Yes, every single one. Unless a post gets over 1500 comments, then I give up. I also have admins who work with me and sometimes keep things away from me or block people if things get too bad. Sometimes I hire a lawyer because I think that the Internet is not a legal vacuum. My pages are also mainly used for screening. I am very respectful of my fans and I expect them to give me that respect back.

You also revealed on Instagram that you are trying to prevent the aging process using natural remedies. What means are these?

Jacob: Snail slime helps a lot. I garden a lot and can’t kill snails. Instead, I collect them in a large bucket and put them out. I noticed how beautiful the snail slime makes the skin. I then found out on the Internet that there are snail farms where the animals are treated well and the mucus is collected to make a cream. It works sensationally well. Just like the high-quality aloe vera gel that my husband always brings me from the Canary Islands.

In addition, you should take a little care of yourself. For example, I don’t put on make-up when I’m out and about for private purposes. I also got a good genetic predisposition from my mother and if I think positive thoughts, then the wrinkles will also disappear. The very idea of someone injecting me with Botox is horrifying to me because I have a severe phobia of injections.
