Lili Reinhart’s past year was determined by two illnesses and made it “the hardest year” of her life.
“Riverdale” star Lili Reinhart (28) has struggled with several health problems in the past year. As she revealed in connection with one, she was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis. This is a chronic disease in which the bladder wall is inflamed or irritated. That diagnosis, along with “the simultaneous search for answers to a mysterious autoimmune/inflammatory disease, made 2024 the hardest year of my life,” she said.
Actress makes alopecia diagnosis public
Along with her post, she shared some pictures that documented her last year. In a text accompanying the first photo, she wrote that she was in a German hospital due to a possible “bladder/urinary tract infection.” She also shared a text message in which she reported hair loss. In an interview with “Self” magazine, Reinhart said that she was diagnosed with alopecia by a dermatologist. As part of her treatment, one doctor advised her to stop taking the pill and get pregnant, while another was allegedly more interested in her acting career.
In another text message from her Instagram post, the actress wrote that she was “miserable” and that her quality of life was suffering due to her health problems. Because of her bladder, she was almost unable to leave the house. It also caused problems for her on a flight.
Reinhart lost her grandmother
Her grandmother encouraged her to talk about it after doctors ignored her despite signs of cancer. The diagnosis was finally made in a blood test requested by her grandmother, but “the cancer had already spread.” As can be seen from the “Self” interview, she has now died.
In her post, Reinhart explained how important it is to stand up for yourself and your health. She appealed to her followers: “Don’t let a doctor unsettle you or downplay your pain. I hope that the men and women out there who are looking for answers feel even a little bit addressed by my experience.”
Her friend and mother helped her
In her Instagram story, the actress also said that she “never in her life” would have been able to cope without her partner Jack Martin (26). “It’s not easy having a chronically ill friend – as I could barely leave the house for months, couldn’t walk because of the pain and was incredibly depressed because of the change in quality of life,” said Reinhart. Martin always showed her love and support. Her mother also helped her by answering “every single miserable text message.” Without her as her “best friend” she wouldn’t have made it through the difficult times.
