Anyone who has always wanted to play in “Babylon Berlin” may now have the opportunity. However, there is one or the other no-go when looking.

The film team of the streaming series “Babylon Berlin” is looking for extras for a new season – but not in the capital itself, but in Cologne, Duisburg, Bochum, Mönchengladbach and Königswinter near Bonn. The shooting is scheduled from mid -March to the end of April.

No fewer than 1500 extras are required for one to five days of shooting, as the Eick & Weber agency announced. Before the time comes, a costume and mask sample will take place in Cologne from the end of February. “Babylon Berlin” is a crime series around the Berlin Commissioner Gereon Rath, template for this are the books by Volker Kutscher.

What is it specifically looking for? “Men and women between the ages of 5 and 80 are invited who fit optically to Berlin and Cologne in 1933,” said agency supporter Gregor Weber of the German Press Agency. “It is the time of the Bubi hairstyles and barrel cuts. The women should be ready to have their hair cut to the chin length. For men, shorter and longer top hair are required.”

His tip: let the hair grow until the costume test at the end of February. A no-go are colored or scanted hair, tan, artificial fingernails, permanent make-up, piercings and tattoos of visible parts of the body. Weber: “We occupy the economic elites and politicians from this time, original waiter of the upscale gastronomy and a chamber orchestra are sought. Hundreds of extras will also play historically costumed carnivalists, handmade speakers, carnival actors and travelers in railway trains and at the train station.”

Who looks like Konrad Adenauer?

For other scenes, men are sought who embody secret police officers, soldiers or political prisoners. “We are also looking for men who have a similarity to historical personalities such as Alfried Krupp, Wilhelm von Opel or the then mayor of Cologne, Konrad Adenauer.” Since small actors and speech roles can also be forgiven, men and women can also apply with acting experience.

All interested parties are invited to an open, free online casting. At www.casting-babylon.de you can enter your data and upload two current photos. The application deadline is March 31. Unfortunately, anyone who has heard nothing until April 14 has not been taken.
