King Charles visits Auschwitz on the 80th anniversary of liberation. At the memorial event, he wipes tears out of his eyes.
King Charles III. (76) today traveled to Poland to commemorate the liberation from Auschwitz 80 years ago. According to media reports, he is the first British monarch to visit the Auschwitz-Birkenau memorial. At pictures of the memorial event, the monarch can be seen how he obviously wipes a tear out of his eyes.
Together with other heads of state and members of the European royal houses, he heard the stories of survivors on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the former concentration camp. Among other things, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier (69) and Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (66) came from Germany.
Visit to the Jewish community center
already visited the Jewish community center (JCC) of Krakow. There he met with survivors of the Holocaust. According to other media reports, the 76-year-old said that “the memory of evil of the past remains an important task”. In London, Princess Kate (43), together with her husband, heir to the throne Prince William (42), is to take part in the official events for the Holocaust Memorial Day.
