In an interview, US actor Sterling K. Brown explains how meticulously he prepared for the new thriller series “Paradise”.

For friends atmospheric entertainment and surprising twists, the new political thriller series “Paradise” is an absolute must. The series project of “This Is Us” maker Dan Fogelman (48), which was launched on Disney+ on Disney+ with a early pilot sequence, plays in a small, apparently idyllic US suburb, in which some of the most wealthiest and most powerful people in the United States life.

They also include Xavier Collins, played by the Oscar-nominated Marvel and “This Is Us” star Sterling K. Brown (48). He is the head of the Secret Service and guarded US President Cal Bradford (played by “Westworld” star James Marsden, 51). Already in the trailer for the new, high -quality produced series you could see how the president falls victim to an assassination attempt. After that, does the situation for the Secret Service agent Collins are coming to: Shane he to determine the backers of the attack before becoming the main suspect?

In an interview with Spot on News, main actor Sterling K. Brown explains what makes the series a special experience for him.

Mister Brown, in the series you embody the Secret Service agent Xavier Collins. What kind of person is that?

Sterling K. Brown: I would say Xavier Collins is one man less words. When he speaks, then not lightly, he is not anyone who carries his emotions on his tongue. Rather, he always keeps himself quite covered. At the beginning of the series we learn that he is a single father with a child of teenage and a younger one and that he mourns his wife. Why isn’t his wife there? How did she live? These are questions that we will answer in the course of the series. But he is just trying to find out how to proceed after he had to find out that his partner and his life were taken away from him.

The script is full of surprising turns. What was your first reaction when you read it?

Brown: Similar to reading the script from “This Is Us”. You read the script and think: man, that’s a really wonderful series. Great story, great characters. I am completely enthusiastic. Then you come to the end and think: damn, he turns the tables, thank you very much! This was how I was reading “Paradise” because the story itself is so full. Dan has a certain way of introducing small turns, just a small twist that raises the story to a completely different level. I was shocked and pleased when I read it.

It is attractive for the viewer to observe the interaction of the serious secret service man with the casual president. Was all these humorous clashes in the script?

Brown: That is in the script, but it also comes from the wonderfully talented person James Marsden. He is a very funny, very warm and easy -to -compensation type. I think the chemistry between two people who really like then follows itself.

Did you familiarize yourself with the work methods of the real secret service to prepare?

Brown: Yes, absolutely. I researched a lot about Secret Service and completed weapons training. It’s about a lot of observations: how do you hold your hands? What are you looking out for? How do you know when someone is a threat to you? How do you break it down as soon as possible? And then also the behavior of the secret service. These people have a very cool, calm attitude that really radiates that you shouldn’t put yourself in with them, because otherwise it hurts you. But the cool thing about them is that they don’t want to hurt anyone. They just want everything to go as smoothly as possible.

In the series soundtrack, many well -known rock songs from the 1980s and 1990s can be found – but in completely new versions. How do you like this musical level?

Brown: Well, I’m a black American and some of the songs are very tailored to white America. But there are a few really good twists with these songs. The cover versions are really fantastic. I think if the audience hears them, it will be like me: “Oh, my god, I know this song, but they use it in a completely different way – and thus achieve a completely different effect”.
