In a new podcast, “Tatort” star Liefers, together with an expert from the Berlin Charité, reveals the secrets of sleep – and also reveals what he dreams of at night.

Jan Josef Liefers (60) developed a special interest in sleeping very early on. “As a child, for example, I tried to get the moment when I fall asleep,” says the actor of the German Press Agency. “The older I got, the more I wanted to know about sleep.” On Friday, he now started a twelve -part podcast together with Professor Ingo Fietze, head of the Berlin Charité sleeping center. The title of WDR production: “Somnoversum – Sleep better with delivery and fietze”.

The actor of the doctor Prof. Dr. Dr. Karl-Friedrich Boerne from the Münster “crime scene” considers the topic completely underestimated from health perspectives. “We know that sugar is bad, smoking is bad, you have to do sports. But we know almost nothing about such a pillar of our human being, sleeping.” Sleep doctors Fietze still experience that many people also find it difficult to look for help with severe sleep problems.

The majority struggle when sleeping in or through

Liefers and Fietze have known each other for many years, and this familiarity benefits the podcast. In a relaxed and understandable way, they reveal surprisingly many interesting aspects of sleep. This is entertaining – especially potentially helpful for everyone who struggles to sleep up or sleep through.

After all, this is the majority of the German population: According to Fietze, only one third of the problem -free “sleep of the righteous” is granted. With Liefers it is like this: “I fall asleep well, but I often wake up after four hours and don’t find it back to sleep. It has developed over time. Has dealt with the job with the family , especially at a time when the children are still small. “

Liefers almost always travels with its own pillow

Over time, Liefers has bought its own small collection of sleep -promoting aids. “Wherever I am, I try to listen to people: What is good sleeping clothes, good bedding, what is a good pillow? Almost always when I travel somewhere, I take my own pillow with me.” Sometimes he sleeps in three different hotel beds in a week.

“I also have one or two sleeping glasses that work great for me. They just make it dark – night blacken themselves during the day. The good old earplugs are also nice and expensive for me. And I love it when rooms are cold. I also try , to go down a bit before going to bed, to establish a small ritual, according to the way: Now the day ends, now something else is kicked off. “

Dreams are the garbage disposal of the brain

In addition to concrete tips that everyone has to try for themselves, because there is little general, but there are also many interesting topics related to sleep. For example: dream. “I have very lively, completely crazy dreams,” reports Liefers.

“The other day I dreamed that I had to work with my wife in a theater, we were ballet dancers. Suddenly a well -known politician comes to our wardrobe in the costume, pulls his pants down and says he has something on the butt and we should Let’s see what that is.
