Anyone who had expected a big bang at the start of the series was surprised by the insignificance of the first case. “Judas” feels more like the 47th installment of an established crime series that badly needs a facelift. A young woman who was living undercover in Linz as part of a witness protection program is found dead in her substandard apartment. The SOKO Linz team takes up the investigation.

Little authentic, colorless, bland: yesterday’s premiere apparently did not meet the expectations of the viewers in the least, as a look at social media shows. “The Linz is horrible video from the tourism association gave the city a better image,” writes a user on Twitter. Another Soko viewer finds even sharper words: “The most hideous places in Linz are broadcast.” Even the spoken High German annoys her: “We don’t talk like that in Upper Austria,” she says on Twitter. As if that wasn’t enough, the sound quality also left a lot to be desired.
A Tyrolean also pours oil on the fire with his comment: “Linz is really as bad as you always say,” he writes in reference to the polarizing “Linz is Linz” video. There are also initial reactions from city politicians. The Linzer Neos club chairman has made several postings about the first episode. For him, the series is “a missed opportunity for Linz”.
