Barbara Meier: “GNTM” winner talks about too big pores

Barbara Meier (38) has been a model for many years. She became known for the first time by participating in Heidi Klums (51) show “Germany’s Next Top Model”, which she won in 2007. Since then she has experienced a lot in the industry. She has just returned to the running walkways in Paris as part of the Fashion Week in Paris. A great comeback, but a lot of criticism has been criticized within the fashion world in the fashion world.

“I think there is no part of me that has not yet been criticized by others” ,. “My pores are too big,” said it even once. Unfortunately, such comments were always part of the profession. “Of course, this is somehow part of the job, but that doesn’t mean that it is going to me without a trace,” explains Meier. She remembers “criticism much longer than compliments”. The model often thought: “Everything about me is obviously wrong, nothing is right at all.”

At least in places there has apparently also been a change in the industry in recent years. “After 15 years I was back on the catwalk of the Paris Fashion Week. So nice that you can now also be on the catwalk as a woman over 35 and as a double mom,” she wrote recently.

“Today I think: my body has done so much and gave birth to two children and of course a woman’s body also changes through the births,” she says in an interview with the daily newspaper. “Anyone who books me today knows that. […] The fact that I was able to run here anyway or maybe because of it is a great sign, hopefully also for other models. “

At the show by designer Lena Erziak, Meier wore a statement dress. “‘Hope’ ‘LGBTQ+’, ‘Respect’ and many other values ​​are sewn with large letters” ,. “A memory of the values ​​for which we should work.” The Meier, born in Bavaria, has been married to Klemens Hallmann (49) since 2019, has two daughters with him and is committed to children in need. She has been an honorary representative of Unicef ​​Austria since 2022.
