The Copenhagener Jussi Adler-Olsen is one of the big names of the Scandinavia thriller. In an interview, he now reports on a serious diagnosis.
The Danish success author Jussi Adler-Olsen (“mercy”) is terminally ill. The 74-year-old announced this in an interview with the newspaper “Politiken”.
“I feel good. According to the circumstances,” said the author of the crime series about the special investigator Carl Mørck from the special department Q. “So I will die from this disease. It is incurable. At least further.” He hoped for new treatment methods.
Adler-Olsen reported that they had been hospitalized a year ago and later lying almost half a year in a special department of the renowned Copenhagen Reich Hospital. He still gets chemotherapy and morphine.
One of the most famous bestselling authors of Scandinavia
Jussi Adler-Olsen is one of the most famous crime writers of Scandinavia. His Mørck novels are considered one of the most successful thriller series in recent years, especially in Germany they have celebrated great success. His tenth and last part of the series, “betrayed”, only came to the German book trade in March 2024.
The series is now continued by the authors Line Holm and Stine Bolther – with Adler -Olsen in the background – as the bestselling author announced in “Politics”. The eleventh part of the series in Denmark is said to come out in March under the title “Døde Sjæle Synger Ikke” (dead souls do not sing) – with a female main character.
