In 2019, Paloma Herrera was accused of mistreatment by Carla Vincelliwho complained about losing the position of prima ballerina: “I feel great sadness. Far from remaining silent, Herrera came out to defend herself: “The claims made by the dancers have nothing to do with the artistic. It is not my subject. What’s more, the claims are from the orchestra, choir, ballet corps, regarding salaries. and others. And I have nothing to do with those negotiations that are not my area. That is public knowledge: my position is Artistic Director, nothing to do with salary and union.”

And he continued: “The claims of ‘mistreatment’ are from dancers who have not had the role they wanted. Of course, when I took this position I knew that, when casts are chosen, there are dancers who are angry, not all of them do the main role. And both by critics and by the public, it is more than clear that the casts, which I do not choose alone but in conjunction with the choreographer and repositor of the work, are fair and transparent. The dancers and dancers who interpreted the Lead roles are magnificent! And they shined!”
