Where are the stars of the series today?

The cult series “Buffy” could get a reboot or a sequel. What have the stars from back then?

“Buffy- In the spell of the demons” is probably one of the best known and most popular series of the 1990s and early 2000s. The young Buffy Summers, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar (47), got it to do with more than the everyday problems of a teenager. With a lot of female power and the help of her friends as a vampire hunter, she stood the fight of good against evil. In 2003, more than 20 years ago, the series was over.

However, there could soon be a reunion with the figure Buffy and her friends, as several US industry media unanimously report. At the Hulu streaming service, one is interested in a pilot sequence for a new “Buffy” series. So far, however, it is unclear whether it will be a new edition of the known material or a successor. It is also not yet clear whether the stars will return from back then. , according to which Gellar is still in final negotiations on a “Buffy” comeback. It is therefore planned that it will appear again in the role. However, a new hunter should be the focus. But what have the stars of that time actually driven in recent years? A selection.

Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy Summers

With “Buffy” and the films “I know what you did last summer” and “ice -cold angel” Sarah Michelle Gellar became one of the hottest young stars of Hollywood at the end of the 90s. Numerous engagements, including two cinema real films of the cartoon classic “Scooby-Doo”, followed. Despite the iconic role of the Buffy Summers, she could not secure absolute megastar status – maybe also because she did not concentrate on jobs in front of the camera.

Gellar was a co -founder of the company Foodstir in 2015 and published her own cookbook “Stirring up Fun with Food” in 2017. A completely different work was much more important for her in recent years – as a mother. On the set of “I know what you did last summer” she met her colleague Freddie Prince Jr. (48), whom she married in 2002. In 2009 the first child of the two was born, a daughter. In 2012, a son followed for the couple, who is still together today.

David Boreanaz as a fishing

The fishing raid by David Boreanaz (55) was also very impressed by the spectators at the time – so much that he got his own spin -off with several seasons with “Angel – Hunter of Darkness”. Although he is not part of the blockbuster team of the dream factory, it has been great success on the small screen since then. For many years he played alongside Emily Deschanel (48) in “Bones – The Bone Hunter”, followed by another leading role in the long -time series “Seal Team”. He is said to have further projects in the pipeline, as he told shortly before the turn of the year.

Alyson Hannigan as Willow Rosenberg

Alyson Hannigan (50) played Buffy’s best friend Willow. As well as it may be in this role, many film and series fans should associate them with two completely different figures- with the flute girl Michelle from the “American Pie” series and with Lily from the series “How I Met Your Mother “. Hannigan has been seen in numerous productions since then, but she was no longer able to build on these three mega successes.

Charisma Carpenter as Cordelia Chase

Charisma Carpenter (54) also stood in front of the camera and now has a considerable number of appearances in films and series. The very big hit in a leading role was unfortunately denied to her. She played in very popular productions such as “Burn Notice”, “The Expendables”, “CSI: Vegas” or “Veronica Mars”, but mostly in smaller roles. Series fans may have remembered as a Cordelia Chase in “Buffy” and “Angel”.

Nicholas Brendon as Xander

Nicholas Brendon (53) became famous as Xander, Buffy’s best friend. In the past two decades, he continued to work in front of the camera after the series, but he was particularly negative headlines. He is said to have fought with depression, alcohol and drug problems in recent years. Brendon was arrested several times and is said to have shown signs of clearing.

James Marsters as Spike

Anyone who has seen “Buffy” and “Angel” has to this day the platinum blonde vampire Spike, played by James Marsters (62). He didn’t lack work, such as in “Marvel’s Runways” or “Smallville” – on the contrary. Similar to many of his “Buffy” colleagues, the role in the series should also be the greatest of his life for him.

Michelle Trachtenberg as Dawn Summers

Michelle Trachtenberg (39) was already in front of the cameras as a toddler, but for them the figure Dawn Summers also meant the big breakthrough. The little sister of Buffy has so far been seen or heard in around 60 productions, including “Gossip Girl”, for example, in the comedy “Eurotrip” or in “Weeds – Small Deals under neighbors”.

Anthony Head as Rupert Giles

Anthony Head (70) embodied Buffy’s guardian Giles. He brings it to one of the most impressive creative catalogs of his serial colleagues. Theater, film, series, synchronization … The English -born Englishman already had countless jobs in his long career. In larger and smaller roles he performed in “The Iron Lady”, “Ted Lasso”, “Bridgerton”, “Jack Ryan”, “Doctor Who” and “Little Britain”.

Series creator Joss Whedon

One who will definitely not be part of the “Buffy” comeback is a series creator Joss Whedon (60). In 2021 parts of the original cast had accused him of accusations against him. Carpenter, among other things, of abuse of power. The fact that she was proud that her name would be associated with the figure, but she does not want to be associated with Whedon forever. “Inappropriate behavior” and that there should have been a rule, according to which Whedon “was not allowed to stay in one room alone”.
