Charles is already in cancer treatment for a year. So it has been the British king since his diagnosis.
King Charles III. (76) cannot be stored by his cancer. One year after the diagnosis, the schedule of the British monarch is well filled again. At the end of January he traveled to Poland, where he took part in a memorial event on the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. According to British media reports, a visit to Pope Francis (88) in Italy could soon be pending.
The 76-year-old is not healed. King Charles’ cancer treatment will allegedly continue this year, as “Sky News” wants to have found in December 2024. From the palace, according to the report, it says that the treatment of the monarch “has developed in a positive direction and the treatment cycle will continue until next year”. According to “Sky News”, the anonymous source added to the cancer that there was confidence. This is also evident in the king’s wish to complete a dense program of public appearances.
The palace did not make the form of the disease. It is also not known which type of treatment the king is subject to, but according to British media reports, he regularly stayed at doctor’s dates in London.
Role model for other affected people
The ex-BBC correspondent Jennie Bond (74) emphasized the king’s role model function in the “Mirror”: “A full year of treatment must certainly have demanded its tribute, but he has shown that he is absolutely determined to continue working as normal as possible . ” Like his daughter -in -law Princess Kate (43), who also fought against cancer last year, the king had to get used to a “new normality”.
Bond continued: “His doctors will continue to watch him very closely and do their best to warn him when he does too much.” The cancer has “changed the way it imagined the beginning of his reign, and it will be difficult to shake off the fear that has to bring a life with cancer”.
Changes in the schedule could be necessary if the circumstances at Charles’ state of health change, it is said. But a source told the “Mirror”: The Australia and Samoa trip last autumn Charles’ mood and recovery inspired the Christmas holidays with his closest family.
Support from Queen Camilla
The king’s most important support is his wife Queen Camilla (77). She accompanied him on his trip to Down Under and is also said to be at his side on the upcoming trips abroad. Jennie Bond said: “Since marriage to Camilla, Charles has had a new perspective on life. One in which the glass is rather half full than half empty.”
Despite the difficult health situation, according to Bond, Charles looks optimistically into the future: “With or without cancer, I think he will tackle the rest of his reign: full of optimism that he can achieve some of his goals and leave a lasting impression in the role , which he waited for so long. “
This is known about Charles’ cancer
Charles’ health problems began at the beginning of last year. On January 17, 2024, the Buckingham Palace announced that the monarch will undergo treatment for a benign prostate enlargement. On January 26, he went to the private “London Clinic”. He was released three days later.
Then the shock followed: The doctors had discovered “a separate worrying abnormality” at Charles, as the palace announced on February 5, 2024. The diagnosis was cancer – but not prostate cancer, as was expressly emphasized.
It also said: “His majesty has started a program today, and the doctors advised him not to perform any public tasks during this time.” As usual, the monarch continued to work away from the public.
The then Prime Minister Rishi Sunak (44) also announced that the cancer was “recognized early”. At a meeting on February 21, the king was already in good shape, as Sunak explained.
Return to the public
At the end of April, the monarch took the step back to the public. On April 30, together with Queen Camilla, he visited a cancer center in London – his first public appearance since the diagnosis. A palace speaker said that the doctors were “sufficiently satisfied” with the progress.
Despite continuing cancer treatment, Charles appeared more and more in public in the following months. On the occasion of his big overseas trip, he supposedly paused his therapy for a few weeks in October. The 76-year-old visited the Australian cities of Sydney and Canberra together with his wife. Then the royal couple went to Samoa in the South Pacific. According to media reports, Charles and Camilla completed a full program with up to ten appointments a day – and only one day of rest. According to the reports, his full calendar was organized in close consultation with the doctors. The dates were therefore organized in such a way “that its further recovery has priority”.
Charles continues his treatment since his return. For this year the royal family is to work on a “fairly normal -looking” full program for Charles. According to reports, it also said from the palace: “This is a feeling for us to know that we can think in this sense, subject to approval by the doctors.”
