Her famous members included literary sizes such as Charles Dickens, Bram Stoker, Virginia Woolf and Ian Fleming. Helena Bonham Carter, the first president of the house, gave the guests the dimension of the collection with a clear comparison: “We have 17 miles of books here, which corresponds to the length of the underground circle”, ie the subway line that leads around the London city center.

For Camilla, the patronage via London Library means the continuation of a royal tradition.
