A year after his cancer diagnosis, King Charles III. visited the Polish social and cultural center in London.
King Charles III. (76) continues to demonstrate his determination to comply with his royal duties despite his cancer. On February 5, exactly a year after the public announcement of his diagnosis, the British monarch visited the Polish Social and Cultural Center (POSK) in London. When he arrived, he was warmly received by the Polish ambassador Piotr Wilczek and Posk chairman Marcin Kalinowski.
For the king it was not the first visit to Europe’s largest Polish center. Already in 2010 he was a guest there with his wife Queen Camilla (77) – at that time as a Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall. The current visit was all about meeting the British-Polish community.
As part of his stay, Charles visited a new art exhibition in the Posk gallery with works by the Polish artist Felix Fabian, according to the Upper British media reports. He then took part in a reception in which he met Polish veterans of the Second World War, businessmen, social workers, teachers and folk dancers.
Significant cultural institution
The posk has a long and significant story. In 1964 it was founded by the Polish exile community in Great Britain as a charity. The center reached an important milestone in 1967 when it took over the administration of the largest free Polish library outside of Poland from the British government. In 1972 the posk moved into its current location in the King Street in Hammersmith.
Today the center houses a theater, a restaurant, a gallery and meeting rooms for numerous Polish social and cultural organizations. Exhibitions, concerts, opera performances, film performances and theater performances take place regularly there. Renowned institutions such as the Joseph Conrad Society and the Pilsudski Historical Institute are also located in the posk. A special attraction is the in-house Jazz Café with its live concerts on weekends.
Palace does not give much information
Despite his apparently good health, Charles is not healed. King Charles’ cancer treatment will allegedly continue this year. However, unofficial palace circles say that the treatment of the monarch has developed in a positive direction. So there is confidence.
The palace never made the exact form of cancer. It is also not known which type of treatment the king is subject to, but according to British media reports, he regularly stayed at doctor’s dates in London.
