The Teatro Colón formalized the departure of Paloma Herrera from the Directorate of the Stable Ballet

“Five years ago, in February 2017, the Teatro Colón summoned her for her impeccable career as a dancer to start a new challenge in her career as Director of the Stable Ballet. Since then, she was given absolute freedom to design her ballet leadership strategy, and she was institutionally accompanied throughout her management, understanding that it is a complex and demanding task, ”she noted in her letter. .

The official newsletter was sent after a meeting between María Victoria Alcaraz, director of the Colón, and Herrera, who according to Colón sources consulted by Télam was “cordial and respectful”, but did not manage to modify Paloma’s decision.

In his resignation letter that he made public yesterday through his Instagram account @ Palomaherrera_oficial, he maintained: “I redoubled my efforts and thus I was able to convert the Stable Ballet from the unfortunate state it was in when I arrived at the highest grossing show in the house. , easily surpassing the opera, which at that time historically sold the largest number of tickets”.

In the text, the former dancer alluded to differences with the executive director of the Colón, Martín Boschet, both regarding the programming for the 2022 season and the audition policy.

Herrera assured that of the 100 dancers of the Theater, “those who work hardly reach 50″ and in view of the reported situation, he had requested to organize auditions with students and graduates of the Higher Institute of Art of the Teatro Colón, as happened in years previous years, to be able to count on them as reinforcements for the corps de ballet, but the request would have been denied by Boschet.

“I am leaving office after five years, immensely grateful to the public who valued my management from the first day, always showing their enormous affection and support, and of course to my work team who was ALWAYS by my side at the foot of the canyon! I will continue working and enjoying this wonderful art that dance is, but in places where the love of dance can be truly enjoyed, ”he stated in the personal note that accompanied the letter.

In a diplomatic tone, the colonist communication concluded by stating that “The Colón Theater is grateful for its selfless contribution provided over these years.”
