Organization with a long tradition

Catherine Maunoury (70), aerobatic champion and president of the institution, presented Tom Cruise, who is known for his stunts and scenes at airy heights, the medal as the highest award. The Aéro-Club de France was founded in 1898 to promote aviation and is considered the world’s oldest organization of this kind.

It was only last December Tom Cruise was honored by the US Navy with its highest civilian award. US Marine State Secretary Carlos del Toro (64) presented the actor the so-called “Distinguished Public Service Award”. The award recognizes exceptional services by civilians around the Navy over a longer period of time.

With “Top Gun” Cruise created an iconic military film in 1986 that still has an impact today. The strip over elite combat pilots of the navy not only became a cinema, but also led to a sudden increase in the number of recruits. In 2022, the sequel “Top Gun: Maverick” seamlessly made this success. The film, in which Cruise ‘figure trains a new generation of fighter pilots, has played over $ 1.4 billion worldwide.
