Diego Pooth at “Let’s Dance”
“The big stage is not mine”
“Let’s Dance” is Diego Pooth’s first big TV format. He does not like the focus, as he reveals in an interview.
In the 18th season of “Let’s Dance” (from February 21, always on Fridays at 8:15 p.m. at RTL and) at the age of 21, Diego Pooth is the youngest candidate. And not only that: For the son of Verona Pooth (56) it is also the first time that he stands in front of the TV cameras for a format without his mother.
In competitive sports, on the other hand, he is very experienced: he attended a sports boarding school in the United States for several years and strived for a career as a professional golfer. What is the bigger challenge: a perfect golf swing or a perfect dance step?
“I don’t think there is the perfect dance step or the perfect golf swing,” explains Pooth in an interview with the news agency Spot on News. “Dancing is of course heavier for me, because I start from zero – or let’s say from the negative area. In this respect, the simple dance step itself is difficult enough. We don’t talk about perfection yet.”
Diego Pooth does not like to be the focus
The reactions of his family and friends also show how little the model has so far dancing. It can “nobody from my environment that I will dance from so many people – as I just said, that’s not my hobbyhorse. And you are excited to master this challenge and above all come out of me,” said Pooth . He is rather reserved and shy away: “The big stage is not mine either: headlights and all eyes on me. But I have to face that, otherwise I have no chance.”
Nevertheless, his loved ones are of course enthusiastic about his chance at “Let’s Dance”, the 20-year-old continues. His girlfriend also supports him very much in participating and is happy “if I can teach her a few dance moves.”
“Let’s dance” as a “cool student job”
He himself wants to make up for my manageable talent in the dance show “With diligence and discipline. For me, this is a sporting challenge – a competition,” says Diego Pooth. That is why he immediately agreed to the broadcaster after the request, although he had “not really on the screen” beforehand. “I certainly won’t get such a cool student job again,” jokes Pooth, who studies product management in Berlin.
He still seems to want to focus on this – even though his mother, advertising icon Verona Pooth, was of course in the cradle. “Just because I take part in ‘Let’s Dance’ does not mean that I have plans to take a way to take a similar way to my mother,” the celebrity sprouts clarified in an interview with spot on news.
