His AfD comment hits high waves

The satirist Jan Böhmermann spoke support for the AfD in a video comment in the “New York Times” for Elon Musk.

Jan Böhmermann (43) has released an almost nine -minute video in which he warns in the usual satirical way of the AfD party. Since the video was placed online in the German newspaper “Die Welt” a few weeks after the publication of a guest article by Tech billionaire Elon Musk (53), it will be seen as a response to Musk’s support for the AfD.

In the video with the title “The Far Right is Rising in the Land of ‘Never Again'” on the “New York Times” website, Böhmermann explains in English, the Nazi-pastingness of Germany and always draws parallels to the current political situation Shortly before the Bundestag election on February 23.

“Hello from Germany, the country, which, according to Elon Musk, has to be saved,” welcomes the “ZDF Magazin Royale” moderator to the viewers at the beginning of the video. He then emphasizes that Germany has been continuously confronted with its history since the end of World War II, but there is no manual for the promise “never again”. At the moment there is concern that the AfD will revive fascism in Germany.

The video also contains a direct criticism of Elon Musk, his controversial gesture during the Trump Chamber of Trump and his appearance in political world events. Musk had not only published a guest post in the “Welt”, but also had a conversation with AfD Chancellor candidate Alice Weidel (46). The politician had publicly referred to Hitler as a “communist”. According to Böhmermann, the rhetoric used by Musk and the AfD suggests that “Nazi things can be said and made” as long as you deny to be a Nazi.

“The shit is steaming”

Finally, Böhmermann adapted the well-known “Great Again” slogan of US President Donald Trump (78) and says in relation to the AfD: “We are not Nazis, we just want germany to be great again.” The video closes the video with the words: “And that’s why the shit in Germany is steaming.”

The contribution makes large waves, especially on social networks. On Instagram, some users celebrate the comment as “the best that I have ever belonged to on this topic – enlightening and frightening”. In his story, Böhmermann announced that the video would be seen on YouTube from Saturday even without Paywall.
