Boris Becker and Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro: Run in Naples for a good cause

At Boris Becker (57) the weekend is again all about sport. Together with his wife Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro (35), the former tennis star is currently in Naples, where the traditional “Naples City Half Marathon” takes place on Sunday.

The 57-year-old can no longer cover such distances, but he took part in the “Family Run & Friends” event the day before. In the charity run, his wife and he were in action as an ambassador for the Laureus Academy, who is committed to fun moving and sport. Pictures show the couple on Saturday in bright sunshine in a good mood in their running clothes on the track.

The spouses in the Italian city, together with numerous other runners, covered two kilometers for a good cause. While de Carvalho Monteiro also jogged a section, Becker took it easy and completed the distance completely in a walk. The former Wimbledon winner has to struggle with the joints due to the years of competitive sport – ankle and knees are broken, and since 2010 he has had an artificial hip.

There are no winners in the “Family Run & Friends” run as part of the Naples Halfmarathon, everyone can take part between 0 and 99 years. For their efforts, Boris Becker and Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro received a participant medal with which they proudly posed arm in arm.
