Violinist Maxim Vengerov, who has also performed convincingly as a conductor since an injury, has been a professor at the Mozarteum Salzburg since 2019. On Thursday he made a guest appearance with the symphony orchestra of the Music University in the Stadttheater Wels, where only works by Mozart were played.
The violinist Andreas Siles Mellinger from Bolivia presented the 3rd violin concerto KV 216 and inspired with a warm timbrated tone and a great feeling for design.
The Austro-Swedish violinist Lorenz Karls played Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 4, K. 218, with just as fine intonation, but with a completely different character and above all the sonority convinced.
The concerts were framed by the “Figaro” and “Don Giovanni” overtures, which showed how meticulously Maxim Vengerov worked with the orchestra. The bonus – the second movement from Bach’s double concerto, which united both soloists – was emotionally intense. (wuss)
