Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke in “9½ weeks”: dream couple in front of the camera, hatred behind it. So it was said for a long time. But rightly so?
Her sex scenes wrote film history, but behind the scenes it is said to have crisis more than cracked between Kim Basinger (71) and Mickey Rourke (72) when shooting “9½ weeks”. At least that’s how it says the legend that was fired by Basinger’s statements in the year in which the erotic drama, which was already rotated in 1984, came to cinemas.
But now Kim Basinger wants to do things right. She didn’t hate Mickey Rourke, “I loved him,” she said. “He is also a brilliant actor”.
“Hass love” for “9½ weeks” director
The misunderstanding of her difficult relationship with the colleague was only created because they had never spoken beyond the set. “I didn’t want to tell him hello beforehand. I didn’t want to speak to him at the filming location,” said Basinger “Variety”. After the filming, she didn’t see Rourke for a while.
With director Adrian Lyne (80) she agreed to turn chronologically. And only to meet your co-star in front of the camera. Your connection should only develop on the canvas. In fact, Basinger connected a “hate love” to filmmaker Lyne during the shoot, the Oscar winner now confessed.
“Great relationship” to Alec Baldwin
With another man from her past, Kim Basinger now has a “great relationship”: Alec Baldwin (66). From 1993 to 2002 she was married to her co-star “The Blonde Templation”. Daughter Ireland (29) comes from the relationship.
“I have great respect for where he is today and in front of his family,” said Basinger about “Variety”. The ex-herself would not see each other often and the holidays would not spend the holidays together, but would make calls. “He takes the listener and calls me, and in many ways we have a really warm and, I think, loving relationship, simply because we have a daughter together, and I wish him nothing but all the best,” said Basinger.
