With her victory at the ESC, her international breakthrough achieved her in 1988. At this year’s song Contest, Celine Dion would appear as a star guest. Does that allow your health?
The organizers of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) hope for a performance by Céline Dion as a star guest at the ESC final in May in Basel. A spokesman for the organizer confirmed that there were corresponding contacts. However, everything due to their serious illness is in the balance, it said. A performance by the 56-year-old Canadian top star will only decide at short notice.
The singer has been suffering from the serious neurological disease Stiff-Person-Person-Syndrome with muscle cramps for several years. At the Olympic Games in Paris for the first time since 2019, she sang publicly during the opening ceremony. In November 2024 she performed at a show in Saudi Arabia.
Dion started in Dublin for Switzerland in 1988. With the song “Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi”, she won the competition with a point ahead.
Switzerland is represented by Zoë Më
Meanwhile, it is clear that 24-year-old Zoë Më will represent Switzerland in the ESC final. This was announced by Swiss television (SRG). The Swiss spent many years in Germany and does bilingual pop – she sings in French and German. Which song she sings is to be announced on March 10th.
The young woman steps into the footsteps of Nemo. Nemo won the competition with the song “The Code” in Malmö in Swedish.
The world’s largest music competition with more than 150 million viewers in front of the television screens will take place from May 10th to 17th in the St. Jakobshalle in Basel on the German border. Due to the spectacle, the moderators Michelle Hunziker (“Wetten, dass …?”), Cabaret artist Hazel Brugger and the singer Sandra Studer will lead.
