The elderly monarch receives support primarily from the direct heirs to the throne, i.e. her son Prince Charles and grandson Prince William. She can count on both of them. Prince Andrew worries her
But her biggest headache is probably her actual favorite son: Prince Andrew. Ironically, in the year of the platinum anniversary, the accused Duke of York is facing a civil trial. More and more details about his friendship with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell also put the royal family in a bad light.
Andrew has just made it clear through his lawyers that he is not seeking an out-of-court settlement. An agreement could possibly have prevented more and more internal information from becoming public. That would have been so important, especially in the year of the platinum anniversary.
