Grimme price: feature films go away empty-handed
Series in the TV world have been becoming increasingly important for years. This is also reflected in the most important price for exemplary television. In addition, two prominent RTL faces receive a special honor.
The Grimme Prize for Quality Television will go away empty-handed for the first time this year. In the fiction category, the jury only selected series for the coveted trophy. “This continues the tendency of the past price years,” said the Grimme Institute in Marl.
RTL+ prevails with superhero
The mini series “Appropriate Angry” by the private broadcaster RTL and its streaming platform RTL+is twice awarded. In the five -part, the maid Amelie experiences a rape and later begins a revenge campaign against sex offenders, where she develops superpowers. Some scenes around the superhero moved close to the Klamauk, which the series also made entertaining despite the severity of the topic, the jury was.
The fictional ARD series “Herrhausen-The Lord of the Money” (ARD Degeto/RBB/SWR/HR) also gets a prize in the fiction category. The series about the life and death of the former German Bank boss Alfred Herrhausen, who was murdered in November 1989, takes a look at the Federal Republic of the late 1980s.
Stubborn research against pedocriminals
In the “Info & Kultur” competition, a prize goes to a WDR production: The report “Germany at the limit? Demolition, foreclosure, asylum”. Isabel Schayani will get a Grimme trophy for the third time. She is awarded Mareike Wilms together.
The price for the “special journalistic performance” this year goes to Isabell Beer and Isabel Ströh for their intensive digital research on sexual violence for the films “CTRG_F EPIC-Pedocriminals in the stream: The perpetrators and” Ctrl_F-The Rape Network on Telegram “(NDR/Funk).
Most awards to public law
Most awards in the regular categories went to public television. In addition to RTL, the streaming portal Prime Video was also honored – for “The Teddy Tecebrhan Show”. It is “not just an entertainment show, but a new negotiation of what entertainment on German television or streaming can be”.
The special honor of the Grimme Prilkstifters of German Volkshochschulverband received two stars from RTL: The moderator team Peter Kloeppel and Ulrike von der Groeben will be recognized for the “longstanding journalistic work” when presenting the main message program “RTL-Aktuell”. The two would have shown how high -quality journalism looks – serious and close to people. Kloeppel and the Groeben, which moderated 4580 programs between 1992 and 2024, are already entered in the Guinness Book of Records as “Longest Serving National News Anchor Duo”.
“The excellent productions of this year show what television can do: inform, reflect on and keep clarifying. It is a great 61st year for Grimme and an exciting and diverse first start for me,” says Çiğdem Uzunoğlu, which has headed the Grimme Institute since the beginning of January.
