Gene Hackman: Wife probably died several days before him

After the mysterious death of Gene Hackman (1930-2025) and Betsy Arakawa (1959-2025), the question quickly arose. During a press conference, it has now been announced that both the Hollywood star and his wife died of a natural death.

The two were found dead on February 26. Although the police had not assumed an external debt, the circumstances were classified as “suspicious enough” to justify a thorough investigation. The body of Arakawa had been discovered on the bottom of a bathroom, nearby an open pill bottle and distributed, prescription tablets. Hackman’s body was in another room near the kitchen. Among other things, there was speculation that a gas leak could have led to the death of the two.

During a press conference, a senior medical officer now explains that Arakawa has probably died in front of Hackman. According to Adan Mendoza, she was last seen alive in public on February 11th. Unopened emails from February 11th were also found. So far, no outgoing messages can be found after this time. Hackman probably died on February 18. That day his pacemaker recorded his heartbeat for the last time.

In both cases, it is assumed that it was a natural death. Arakawa is said to have got medication in a pharmacy before her death. According to the forensic medicine, it died as a result of an infection with the Hantavirus. Hackman died of the consequences of heart disease. The actor also “showed signs of an advanced Alzheimer disease”. It was possible that Hackman was “not aware” that his wife was dead. No food was found in his stomach, “which means that he hadn’t eaten anything lately”. Before his death, he was “in a very bad state of health”.
