Steffen Henssler’s father Werner comments on the dispute of the two
Steffen Henssler and his father Werner combines the passion for cooking. In the meantime, there is radio silence between the two. Werner Henssler reveals the reason.
The “Henssler & Henssler” restaurant, founded by Werner and Steffen Henssler, has become an institution on Hamburg’s Große Elbstraße since the opening in 2001 and popular with tourists and locals. “The mother ship and the beginning of everything”, TV chef Steffen Henssler calls the restaurant on his website. But the shop could not put the family relationship.

“After almost 25 successful years of the ‘Henssler Henssler’, I noticed that the gastronomic and conceptual views of my father and my person no longer match, which is why I have now withdrawn from the ‘Henssler Henssler’,” says the television chef, according to the “Bild” newspaper. His father obviously doesn’t want to leave this statement like that.
“Steffen has not been operational in the business for eight years. Without him, we have even increased the performance! I have been 100 percent partner of the restaurant since the end of 2024, which can also be read in the commercial register,” he explains to the newspaper. Werner Henssler does not understand his son’s intention to proclaim his retreat in this way. “I don’t know why Steffen is going around now. Does he want to choke me in?” Said the cook to the “picture”. Werner Henssler told the “Hamburger Abendblatt” that he didn’t know anything about the announcement. “Steffen had not informed me that he publicly commented on his exit from the ‘Henssler Henssler’,” he told the paper.
“Beautifulness”
The explanation that the two have different conceptual views, he describes as “nonsense” because his son was not part of the operational business anyway. “It all runs like before, just better. I always managed everything,” says Werner Henssler. He also thought that his son wanted to get a name change in the restaurant is “funny”. “The face of the restaurant are my sons Rocky, Toni and I. We do all the work. My name is Henssler. I am the real Henssler, so to speak.”
In fact, the contact between father and son has been demolished for a long time, admits Werner Henssler. They have lived apart, he says. “I still have the number of my son, but I’m not calling.”
