No more clubs, but a room for their families: In the meantime, a tour of the backstreet boys looks significantly different than in the 90s.

The backstreet boys are also not younger – which is also evident in the men’s tour rituals. Give Nick Carter (45), AJ McLean (47), Kevin Richardson (53), Brian Litrell (50) and Howie Dorough (51) that some things had changed on tour over time.

“We are not that old yet, but our bodies are a little more stressed these days,” said McLean in the conversation. After the show, the band members would therefore take a cold bath or massage them. In addition, certain fitness equipment is now also available behind the scenes of the tour.

Babies on board

The things that the boy band wants to eat and drink behind the stage have also changed. In the meantime there are more healthy and organic options than before. However, peanut butter sandwiches with jam are still very popular, revealed McLean. “I swear, we are a pile of five years of the backstage back there.”

However, the biggest change to the nineties should be that the Backstreet Boys now also have a room for their families in every location. Each of the men is in a steady relationship and has children. Large outdoor nights have also done this – they no longer went to clubs, said Richardson. “No, we went from the bottle service in the clubs to baby bottle service,” said McLean. And made it clear that sleep is now “everything” for the band.

A ritual has remained

But one thing has not changed: Before her appearances, the band still has the same ritual: “We are still praying,” said Carter. “We always have a common prayer, whether only we five or we and our crew, our security, our team and management.”

The backstreet boys will appear in Las Vegas in July and August. At the nine concerts under the title “Into the Millennium”, they performed their album “Millennium” published in 1999.
