It was the first supermodel: With her doll eyes, the bubic head and her thin figure, Twiggy shaped the ideal of beauty of a generation. On Thursday she is a guest juror at GNTM.
It was born on September 19, 1949 as a Lesley Hornby, but known worldwide under another name: she was called, because of her spucker figure (the English word twig is called Dünnerz). A journalist described her as “the face of 1966”. In the following years she should become the style icon of the “Swinging Sixties”. In addition, she put the ideal of beauty of the 1950s Ad Acta. Lush breasts, striking curves and long, curly hair were no longer popular, canvas goddesses such as Brigitte Bardot and Sophie Loren were no longer decisive.
Twiggy is still linked to the sixties today
Twiggy’s look soon made school: countless girls missed a short haircut and strived for a slim figure. Twiggy also became influential about the fashion she put on display – she is still linked to the 1960s today. At Heidi Klum’s show “Germany’s Next Topdmodel” she can now be seen as a guest juror.
