For many years, Donatella Versace was the leading creative director of the famous fashion house. She is now stepping down.

Versace gets a new creative director. After the death of her brother Gianni Versace (1946-1997), Donatella Versace (69) took over the creative leadership of the famous fashion company Versace. A good three decades later, it is over.

“It has always been important to me to promote the next generation of designers,” says a Statement Donatella Versaces. “I am thrilled that Dario comes to us vitally and looking forward to seeing Versace with new eyes.” The fashion designer wanted to thank her “incredible design team and all employees” with whom she worked in more than three decades.

“Versace is in my DNA and always in my heart”

Versace also explains how much the post has meant to her as a creative director. “It was the greatest honor of my life to continue my brother Gianni’s legacy,” she writes. “He was the real genius, but I hope I have something of his spirit and persistence.”

Donatella Versace does not leave the fashion house. In the future, she will work as a Chief Brand Ambassador and wants to remain “the most passionate supporter”. “Versace is in my DNA and always in my heart.” According to a communication from the parent company Capri Holdings Limited, vitals will be the new creative director on April 1, 2025. Versace will be particularly devoted to philanthropic and charitable efforts.
