Beauty for home: beauty gadgets in the self-test

As a northern light I can do little with carnival, but this year I would have known what I should dress up: as a beauty victim. The thought comes to me when I put on an LED mask for the first time in December. Red rays shoot from the 236 small lamps that are attached on the inside and are supposed to boost my collagen production. My face shines devilish through the slots. “You look like Darth Vader from ‘Beauty Wars’,” my husband mocks.

In fact, his comparison is not absurd: because the cosmetics universe has developed into a combat zone. In the past, it was about selling crucibles and tubes, more and more companies are now luring with high-tech devices, as was previously only known from the dermatologist or beauty practices. LED masks, lasers and microneedling scooters can now be easily ordered home, some can now be found in the drugstore, all true to the motto: Be your own beauty -d! Is that advisable?

I try it out and test products from different prices for twelve weeks. I start with one . Their rays have three different wavelengths of 633 Nm to 1072 Nm and penetrate my skin. It is scientifically proven that cold red light can favor the anti-aging process. Not a single wrinkle has disappeared after three weeks, but I notice that my skin looks less stressed. The complexion is even more even, redness has disappeared. Perhaps it is just because I take the time to put on the mask in the evening? Pause, do nothing – there is often neglected in everyday life. Next I try a laser that, according to the manufacturer, should be 100 times more powerful than LED. While this mainly looks superficial, the laser rays allegedly achieve deeper layers of the skin and muscle tissue and smooth the skin. Costs 2399 euros is awarded and suggested: there is still room for improvement!

To achieve the first results, you have to work properly. While I would blew away with the dermatologist, I push the laser over my face for 15 minutes. And lo and behold, the effort is worth it: I feel fresher in the morning, my skin looks smooth. Some pigment spots also seem brighter. However, I am skeptical that the laser is also supposed to reduce “hanging pastries” and wink meat on the arms. Without sports and weight loss? Sounds somehow like a beauty fairy tale. And unfortunately the price is also a real hurdle.

So prefer two cheaper products: and Both rely on Microneedling. This is how the process is called when tiny needles sting into the skin and hand over hyaluronic acid. The patches tension, but are nothing against the pain that the scooter generates in my face. The skin looks like I have edited it with grinding paper. Did I use the device incorrectly? One dermatologist now knew advice – but I really wanted to be my own. I look helplessly in the mirror. The one that looks at me would now go through the carnival without cladding as a Halloween fright. Creepy!
