He Long Holy Week weekend (April 17 to 20) is approaching, and many Argentines already have their destiny defined for these mini vacations. A report by the Focus Market consultant, prepared for the Orange Financial Education Blog X, reveals the travel trends, the costs of tourist packages and preferences in payment forms.

Brazil, the preferred international destination

Among international destinations, Brazil continues to lead as the most chosen option by Argentine tourists. Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) and Madrid (Spain) are also among the most wanted destinations. To analyze the interannual price variation, the study took into account packages for two adults with flight and accommodation in three stars with breakfast included.

Miami, the favorite for the “shopping tour”

According to Focus Market’s survey, 59% of Argentines who plan to travel during Holy Week and make purchases abroad would choose Miami. Second appears Chile (22%), followed by Paraguay (11%), Brazil (6%) and Uruguay (2%).

“Faced with high tax pressure in Argentina, the exchange rate and the prices in higher dollars in bordering countries, purchasing tours are an alternative that many consider for this long holiday,” said Damián Di Pace, director of Focus Market.

The cost of a package to Miami for two people (flight + three stars hotel with breakfast) amounts to $ 6,409,480. In both cases, flights are direct and include a hand suitcase and a bag or backpack.

How much international trips increased

The report also compares prices with those of 2024, reflecting the following interannual increases:

  • Janeiro River: $ 2,064,730 (30% more than in 2024, when it cost $ 1,590,926).
  • Cana tip: $ 3,213,488 (25% increase compared to $ 2,573,988 of 2024).
  • Madrid: $ 5,115,558 (7% increase compared to $ 4,778,600 of 2024).

According to Di Pace, the elimination of the country tax and the stability of the exchange rate have generated that the interannual increases of international trips are relatively low.

Payment forms abroad

The report also relieved how Argentines pay their expenses abroad:

  • Credit card: 49%
  • Cash: 24%
  • Digital Wallet: 17%
  • Debit card: 9%
  • Prepaid card: 1%

Bimonnetarism: what goods Argentines prefer to pay in dollars

The survey also consulted the Argentines about the goods they would choose to pay in dollars. The results were:

  • Tourism: 41%
  • Properties: 18%
  • Cars and motorcycles: 15%
  • Appliances and electronics: 10%
  • Construction materials: 6%
  • Home articles: 4%
  • Clothing and footwear: 3%
  • Food and drinks: 2%
  • Pharmacy products: 1%

A long weekend with less economic impact

This year, the Holy Week Tourist Movement could be lower than that of 2024. According to Di Pace, “last year, the holiday coincided with the day of the veteran and the fallen in Malvinas, which extended the average stay to 4.1 days and generated a growth of 70% in the tourist activity, according to CAME data.”

This 2025, although international destinations have moderate price increases, increases in internal tourism could influence the decision of many travelers. The choice between traveling within the country or abroad will be marked by the relationship between costs, taxes and purchase opportunities abroad.
