Why Matthew McConaughey dresses typically American

Mr. McConaugheylet’s talk about your style. With which look do you feel well dressed?
I tell you what I am wearing. I sit in my office in Austin, Texas, and wear khaki pants, sandals and a blue button-down shirt. But I feel most comfortable in jeans, a white V-Neck shirt or shirt, as well as in my old boots, which I have been wearing for 31 years and always let it reinforce. My style is that of a typical American, but you are always well dressed. Fashion must be comfortable and practical for me.

And on the red carpet?
I have learned: In a suit that can be used to beat, they will never look good. Nevertheless, you can pay attention to details. Under a jacket you should wear a shirt that is not too voluminous on the back and that does not make folds. You have to be able to move in it, but it should be cut narrow.

How many shirt buttons should men be allowed to open without being dubious?
I am against moderate, everyone should wear what they like. In my private life, I usually leave the top three buttons open. For business meetings, I already dress up. An outfit should never stand out more than what you have to say.

Was there never a piece of clothing with which they stood out?

I own costumes and props from every role that I played. They are all archived, like in a small museum.

Your greatest treasure?
I hang on Jake Brigance’s desk, my role in “The Jury”, as well as on the hammer with which the judge ultimately imposes the judgment “not guilty”. I also belong to Ron Woodroof’s clothing, which I played in “Dallas Buyers Club”.

Even if I had to prepare for the role again, I wouldn’t inject Ozempic. Forget the weight loss! I was concerned with the discipline. I lived like a monk for five months. It was the most intense preparation I’ve ever had – and never want to miss.
