Émilie Dequenne is dead. The Belgian actress died on Sunday (March 16, 2025) in a hospital near Paris. This was confirmed by her agent of the AFP news agency. Émilie Dequenne was 43 years old. In October 2023, she announced that she had a rare cancer of the adrenal glands.
Émilie Dequenne celebrated her breakthrough with her first cinema roll. She was just 17 years old. For the title role in “Rosetta”, she was awarded the best actress at the Cannes Film Festival in 1999. In the drama of the Belgian directorial brothers Jean Pierre (73) and Luc Dardenne (71), she played a teenager who lives in a trailer park with her alcoholic mother.
